                              Warden Message
                              November 2, 2007

Dear Fellow American Citizens in Lesotho:

Opposition political parties plan to hold a rally this Sunday, November 4, in part to mark the first anniversary of the All Basotho Convention (ABC) as a political party.  The rally will take place at the Pope’s Field/Maseru Racecourse (the large open field opposite the Lower Thetsane neighborhood).  Supporters plan to gather as early as 9:00 a.m., with a keynote speech scheduled for 12 noon.   There is a possibility that supporters of the governing party may also be present during this event.  Large numbers of participants are expected to attend the rally.

Large numbers of participants are expected to attend the Sunday rally.  The U.S. Embassy advises heightened vigilance, avoiding the immediate vicinity of the planned rally as well as any unforeseen large gatherings.  We also draw your attention to recent warden messages regarding security matters in Lesotho, which you may review online at:  http://maseru.usembassy.gov/2007_warden_messages.html
