Town Hall Meeting
Warden Message
U.S. Embassy
Maseru, Lesotho
May 5, 2008
Dear Fellow Citizens:
You are cordially invited to attend a town hall meeting to be held in the Public Diplomacy Room at the U.S. Embassy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, to discuss safety and security issues. All U.S. citizens in Lesotho are invited. In light of a recent upsurge in reported security incidents involving American citizens and other expatriate residents in Lesotho, the U.S. Embassy believes it is prudent that we gather for such a meeting to review safety and security precautions and exchange information. The meeting aims to share and discuss personal safety and security in Lesotho and to offer advice on how to avoid becoming a target of criminal activity and reduce threats to personal security. We want to hear from you.
An experienced U.S. government security officer will participate in this town hall meeting, as well as a representative from a local security firm. The Consular Section will advise participants of American Citizen Services that are available in the event of a security or law enforcement incident.
If you, as a U.S. citizen have any special areas of concern that you would like addressed, please let us know prior to the scheduled meeting. To help facilitate access to this meeting place, please bring your U.S. passport with you. As many of you are aware, parking is extremely limited near the Embassy. There is a small parking lot located in front of the golf course on the east-bound side of Kingsway. Our security guards will assist others to park across the street from the Embassy on the residential access road.
We ask that you kindly RSVP via e-mail to USConsularMaseru@state.gov. If you have any questions, please contact us at the above e-mail address or by telephone number 2231-2666.
