Former Basotho mine workers are planning to hold a demonstration march on Monday February 5, 2007 in Maseru. The march is expected to start at the Convention Center, move towards Mpilo Boulevard and stop at Nightingale Street opposite Queen Elizabeth II Hospital. Large numbers of former miners and their supporters may participate in this event. According to plans, following the march a small delegation will be escorted by police to the Prime Minister’s Office to present a petition.

The march is expected to start at 10:30 a.m. and end at approximately 1:00p.m.

Police are aware of the planned march. They have issued permits to organizers, and will be present throughout the event.
