Hand-Over Ceremony of Medical Equipment and Supplies Donated by the U.S. Department of Defense to Makoanyane Military Hospital
On Friday May 11, 2007, the U.S Ambassador to Lesotho Mrs. June Carter Perry will formally hand-over medical equipment and supplies to the Makoanyane Military Hospital.
In the past year alone, Makoanyane Military hospital received equipment and medical supplies worth over $127, 000, or 922,000 Maluti, under the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (DHAPP).
This Donation has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Defense and National Security; the U.S. Embassy; the Director of Epidemiology and Surveillance, Dr. Anne Thomas, who is based at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, California; and the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa – all under the auspices of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.
This event will be taking place at the Makoanyane Military Hospital at 1330hrs, and all members of the Press are invited.
