Ambassador Special Self Help Program ( Fiscal Year 2008: $40,000) 

The Self-Help fund provides small, short-term grants to community groups that are working to improve the basic economic and social conditions of their villages or communities. The fund provides one year grants for activities such as the construction of classrooms, income-generating projects and support for groups working with the vulnerable or disabled. application form 

Democracy and Human Rights Fund (Fiscal Year 2007: $45,000)  

DHRF provides grants for small, short-term (one-year) activities which support the process of democratization and the strengthening of civic society in Lesotho.  Proposals are sought which will advance the protection of human rights and strengthen a democratic political culture that values civic engagement and empowers citizens to participate in decision-making. sample proposal

Ambassador's Girls Scholarship Program ( Fiscal Year 2008: $170,290) 

The AGSP provides scholarships for the retention of girls and boys who would otherwise have no means of staying in school.  Mentoring and health training for the girls complements the scholarship program.  To date, over 1,000 scholarships have been provided to children in Lesotho, on the basis of academic merit, income, and the effects of HIV/AIDS on the child or family. application form 

Ambassador’s HIV/AIDS Community Grants (Fiscal Year 2008: $75,000)  

The U.S Ambassador’s HIV/AIDS Community Grants Program, funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) awards community-initiated projects in Lesotho which will assist and promote orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) and HIV/AIDS infected persons. application form
