Warden Message
May 4, 2007
Dear Fellow American Citizens in Lesotho:
The governing political party, the Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD), plans to hold a march and rally this Sunday, May 6, 2007 to demonstrate party unity and support. The march, expected to commence at approximately 12 noon, is scheduled to begin at the Convention Center and move up Mpilo Road to Kingsway Road, continuing into Maseru West via Maluti Road and Tona Kholo Road, and then straight to the State House.
For the return route, participants are expected to start on Tona Kholo Road, turn left on Caldwell Road past Maseru Prep School, and then join Assisi Road and Lancers Road down to Moshoeshoe Road, where the procession will turn right and wind up back at the Convention Center via the main traffic circle on Main South 1.
After the march, at the Convention Center, the Prime Minister and other party leaders are expected to address LCD supporters. Normal traffic flow along the aforementioned routes and in the vicinity of the Convention Center may be temporarily affected during the march and subsequent rally.
The U.S. Embassy advises continuation of heightened vigilance during this post-election period and urges all to take greater precautionary measures during this time. If at all possible, avoid large crowds or gatherings.
