Public Diplomacy (PD) Section

The Public Diplomacy Section is devided into two parts, the Cultural Section and the Information Section.

The U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy section conducts a wide variety of cultural activities, including educational advising for Basotho students interested in U.S. universities, a loan library program for rural schools, a speaker program which brings U.S. experts to Lesotho for speaking engagements, and a series of highly successful journalism workshops. The Embassy also selects Basotho to participate in the International Visitor program, which sends up to four people from Lesotho each year to the U.S. for short programs on themes such as HIV/AIDS, good governance, and responsible journalism. In addition the Public Diplomacy also handles local media relations between the different U.S. Agencies and local media houses.
