President Bush Names Ambassador June Carter Perry as Next U.S. Ambassador to Sierra Leone; Names Robert Nolan as Next U.S. Ambassador to Lesotho

President George W. Bush has announced the nomination of Ambassador June Carter Perry, currently serving as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Lesotho, as his next Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone, pending confirmation by the United States Senate.  Ambassador Perry served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Madagascar and the Central African Republic as well as tours in France, Zambia, and Zimbabwe earlier in her career.  She was also the State Department Diplomat-in-Residence at Howard University and Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State before her appointment to Lesotho.

Robert B. Nolan has been nominated as his next Ambassador to the Kingdom of Lesotho, also pending Senate confirmation.  After his confirmation, Robert Nolan will replace Ambassador June Carter Perry, who arrived in Maseru in July 2004, and will depart the Kingdom of Lesotho in the coming weeks.  Robert B. Nolan is currently the Director of the Office of Career Development and Assignments at the U.S. State Department.  His previous positions include Director of the U.S. State Department’s Office of Performance Evaluation in addition to diplomatic assignments in Helsinki, Finland; Antananarivo, Madagascar; and Conakry, Guinea.  Mr. Nolan is a graduate of the George Washington University and Villanova University.
