Press Release
On-line Appointments for Visa Interviews
The U.S. Embassy in Maseru, Lesotho is pleased to announce a new on-line visa interview appointment service. To provide better service to visa applicants, the Consular Section will begin processing visa applications as of March 26, 2008 only for those applicants who have booked their non-immigrant visa interview appointment through our new internet reservation system.
Non-immigrant visa applicants currently complete a mandatory on-line application form (“DS-156”). Applicants will now continue the same on-line process to book their appointment for a visa interview. The form can be found on the web at http://evisaforms.state.gov.
Visa applicants who reside in Lesotho must bring their completed, three-page visa application form, as well as other supporting documentation, to the Consular Section at their scheduled appointment time. Consular staff will pre-screen the documents prior to the interview. Applicants with incomplete forms may opt to complete the forms and return on the same appointment day between 2-4 p.m. for an interview. If unable to return the same day, applicants must go back on-line to schedule a fresh appointment.
These new procedures will improve service availability and standards. Applicants will know what time to appear at the Embassy’s Consular Section and when they will be processed, without unnecessary waiting or delay.
Visa applicants residing in the Republic of South Africa should schedule their interviews through the appropriate U.S. Consular facility that covers their district. Residents of Free State Province, for example, should contact the U.S. Consulate in Johannesburg through the Call Center at telephone number 011-275-6300.
