Deputy Chief of Mission

Elizabeth C. Power arrived in December 2008 as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Maseru.  Prior to her assignment in Lesotho, she was a management analyst with the Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs in Washington, DC.  Her previous overseas assignments include positions in Lagos, Nigeria, where she served as Vice-Consul and Financial Management Officer; in Montevideo, Uruguay, where she served as Vice-Consul and Political Officer; and in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, where she was Consul.

Ms. Power has a bachelor’s degree in German from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in German and European Studies from Georgetown University.  She and her husband have three children.
